IMS involves the insertion of fine acupuncture-type needles into the body where muscles have shortened or contracted. It is problems at these points that are often at the root of long term pain. While a muscle is tight and contracted it can't heal properly, and with IMS you are stimulating a healing process and helping the muscles to relax.

IMS treatment is best suited to treat soft tissue pain that shows no obvious sign of ongoing tissue damage or inflammation, such as many forms of; neck/back pain, tennis elbow, frozen shoulder and fibromyalgia, amongst others. It is often effective when other forms of therapy have failed.

The pelvic floor includes muscles, ligaments, nerves and connective tissue. It plays an important role in the body by providing support for the bladder, genitals, uterus and anus. We treat women, men and children of all ages.

Our specially trained Pelvic Floor therapists will assess your ability to contract and relax these muscles and their synergy with the other core muscles. They will also assess the joints and muscles of your lower back, hips and sacroiliac (SI) joints since problems here can stress your pelvic floor muscles.

*PLEASE NOTE* Depending on the condition of the patient, a Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy appointment MAY include an internal vaginal and/or rectal exam. Pelvic Floor Physiotherapists have obtained additional training to be able to complete internal exams. Please keep in mind that an internal exam is never mandatory, and alternatives can be provided to the patient if necessary. It is okay to come in for your appointment if you are menstruating.

We will be happy to work in conjunction with your dentist to provide the most comprehensive treatment possible.

Osteopathy is a form of manual healthcare which recognizes the important link between the structure of the body and the way it functions. Manual Osteopathic Practitioners focus on how the skeletal system, joints, muscles, nerves, circulatory system, connective tissue and internal organs function as a holistic unit. Osteopaths believe in the body’s power to self-heal, self-maintain, and self-regulate; we aim to remove the barriers that resist this healing process.

A typical consultation will include a private and detailed medical history, where we will establish your current health, ailments, barriers to health and set goals with you. A physical examination will determine a treatment protocol including osteopathic treatment, home care exercises, education, and prognosis. The osteopathic techniques may include but are not limited to; gentle joint manipulation, soft tissue massage, stretching, joint mobilizations and myofascial release. Questions during the course of treatment are encouraged, as we want you leave with a good understanding of your ailments and how to fix and take care of them.

**Please note that Dr. Brian Pound does all of his booking via email. Please email brian.pound@telus.net to make a hypnotherapy appointment.**

Hypnosis is a communication tool which opens the unconscious mind to communication, usually with a hypnotist, or with the conscious mind in the case of Self Hypnosis. Hypnosis does not, by itself create change. In order to create change, the hypnotic trance (state of being in hypnosis) becomes the pathway by which issues that are not in the person's best interests are amenable to change. The hypnotic state does not make the person an automaton, the person retains control at all times, so "suggestions" will only work if they are in the recipient's best interest. In other words, a hypnotist doesn't have any control of the recipient's mind, regardless of what a stage hypnotist would tell you.
Hypnotherapy is a unique experience in which previously unconscious resources are utilized to create meaningful change. Examples are smoking cessation, stopping ineffective habits, weight control, changing emotional states such as depression and anxiety, improving performance in all areas of daily living (athletics, sports, educational blocks, creativity in the arts, and many more).
Hypnosis has been known to mankind since early civilization, however it is only in the last century that it became an approved medical treatment. The late Milton H. Erickson MD is responsible for making hypnosis respectable within the therapeutic community.
Dr. Brian Pound is a medical hypnotist with over forty years of experience in hypnotherapy. He has experience in medical issues such as obesity, depression, habits, acute and chronic pain. He is a consultant to various law enforcement agencies in British Columbia, and is a charter member of the International Society for Forensic and Investigative Hypnosis. He has served as the pain therapist to the Burn Unit at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria, BC, and a therapist in the treatment of hyperemesis gravidarum (excessive vomiting of pregnancy). His success rate in smoking cessation is 80%.

Vision: With a holistic point of view to our body’s structure, function and adaptability, Mohsen believes in the self-healing and self-regulating power of the human body. “I think when our body cannot adjust itself to above-threshold musculoskeletal demands, it becomes “derailed”, and what I have to do is bring it back in to its natural healthy “rail” through osteopathic manual readjustment and soft tissue regulatory techniques and let the bodies natural healing take care of the remainder. In this journey, I believe in a teamwork principle and using other profession’s capacities to help the body’s self-healing power.” Education: Due to Mohsen’s enthusiastic willingness to relieve people’s pain and discomfort, he decided to study Physiotherapy in Shiraz, Iran. After graduating with a Bachelor in Physiotherapy his history and interest in various sports such as Karate, football, wrestling and body-building drove him to achieve a Master of Sport Physiotherapy course (MSc) with focus on manual therapy. While working in different positions as a Sport and Orthopedic physiotherapist, he succeeded to pass his Transitional Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT). After seven years of experience in rehabilitation and treatment of various Sport, Chronic Pain and Orthopedic conditions he found the missing piece of his practice puzzle; Manual Osteopathy. He deep heartedly believes that Osteopathic manual therapy is potentially capable to play one of the most important roles in both our general health and specific musculoskeletal issues. Professional Experiences and Achievements: Registered Osteopathic Manual Practitioner (ROMP / RMO) in Limelight Wellness Clinic in Vancouver, B.C. Chief Physiotherapist in Baran Manual Osteopathy and Physiotherapy Institute, Dr Farahmandfar and Besat Hospitals, and Fars Sport Medicine Association. Cooperated with the first academic manual therapy clinic in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences in Shiraz University of Medical Sciences. Leisure time activities: In his free time he enjoys time with his family, walking, cycling, camping, playing football, volleyball, and other group entertainment and exciting activities. Rebekah graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy on December 7, 2012. The program, spanned over two and a half years, totalling 3000 hours.

To further her education and practical ability she has graduated from the Canadian College of Osteopathy. The program, which spanned over six years, included her case study. This has allowed her to continue to be challenged as a practitioner, to a “whole body” viewpoint and allow a perspective of body unity, versus compartmentalized treatments. Knowledge towards a balanced treatment approach will restore homeostasis in the vital systems of the body (musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, neurological, cranial and visceral). This skillset advancement will encourage a mature ever-evolving practice from a practical and personal level.

Rebekah was born and raised on Vancouver Island. She is passionate about living an active, healthy lifestyle. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, running, reading and socializing. She is excited to continue to progress her cognitive and physical skill sets, to develop a necessary platform, in which to further her ability to treat a diverse and complex cliental base.
